About the Company

At John Taylor MAT “We believe in the power of education to improve lives – and the world.”

We are a strong multi-academy trust with learning at the heart of all we do – our schools thrive, with the majority recognised as Ofsted Good or Outstanding.

We are driven to ensure our communities can realise their true potential through learning. This is our mission. We provide experiences, resources, structures, and systems to enable all to engage, all to progress, all to achieve.

John Taylor MAT was established in 2014, in John Taylor High School – an outstanding secondary and one of the first schools in Staffordshire to become an Academy. The Trust has grown steadily over time, and now serves 6 Secondary schools and 13 Infant/Primary schools.

The Staffordshire Research School and John Taylor Teaching School Hub, (formally the National Forest Teaching School) are also a key part of our Trust. They have a strong reputation for high quality, evidence-based professional development and support for teachers and leaders. The Teaching Hub offers ITE via the John Taylor SCITT, CPD provision, Appropriate Body Services, an Early Career Framework, and a wide range of National Professional Qualifications (NPQs).

We are proud to have a strong Free School programme; we opened John Taylor Free School in September 2018 and Fradley Park Primary & Nursery School in September 2022.

We are working on plans to open Branston Locks Primary School in September 2024 and have Department of Education approval to develop Staffordshire’s first all-through Primary and Secondary School on the site of the former Rugeley Power Station.

We have a passion for excellence demonstrated by great school facilities, a broad curriculum and high-quality leadership. The Central team focuses on the “heavy lifting” of business and compliance, whilst our schools “keep the main thing, the main thing” – prioritising people, time, energy and funding to improve the educational experience.
