Job Description

**Job Title:** Product Specialist – Compact Equipment **Role Summary:** Provide high‑level technical support for Volvo compact equipment to dealers, SMTGB staff, and customers. Conduct site visits, perform diagnostics, deliver training, and report failures to improve product reliability and customer satisfaction. **Expactations:** - Travel within and outside the UK for client visits, training, and support. - Maintain clear, concise communication of technical issues and training needs. - Work independently and collaboratively with regional management and dealer networks. **Key Responsibilities:** - Deliver technical support to dealers, depot personnel, and customers. - Conduct site visits, meet customers at depots or premises, and investigate unusual failures. - Diagnose, document, and report issues to the Chain reporting system. - Identify dealer engineer training requirements through assessments and coordinate with regional teams. - Build and maintain relationships with dealers and key customers. - Assist sales with technical modifications, supplier product testing, and documentation preparation. - Use failure investigation data to support invoice dispute resolution and ongoing issue resolution. - Monitor competitor after‑sales activities and relay insights to the technical support team. - Hold documented meetings with dealers on current and ongoing cases. - Conduct formal and informal product training, including support for SMTGB Training Department. **Required Skills:** - Proven experience in the construction industry. - NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Construction Equipment or Engineering, or substantial equivalent experience. - Thorough knowledge of Volvo Compact Equipment, electronics, and hydraulics. - Strong fault‑finding and troubleshooting expertise. - Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship‑building abilities. - Self‑motivated, results‑driven, capable of independent and team work. - Valid UK driver’s licence; willingness to travel extensively. - (Optional) Knowledge or training in e‑mobility. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Recognised Apprenticeship NVQ Level 3 in Construction Equipment or Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
