**Job Title:** Events Officer
**Role Summary:**
A fixed‑term (6 months) position focused on planning, coordinating, and delivering a portfolio of outdoor and council‑hosted events across the Torbay area, including the upcoming English Riviera Airshow 2026. The role requires close collaboration with council departments, external partners, and volunteers to ensure events meet safety, budget, and income targets while supporting the destination strategy for the English Riviera.
**Expectations:**
- Deploy events from concept to closure, producing high‑standard Event Management Plans (EMPs).
- Manage on‑site decision‑making, risk assessments, and dynamic risk monitoring.
- Build and sustain effective relationships with government entities, private agencies, and community groups.
- Oversee budgets, meet income generation targets, and contribute to local economic impact.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Lead the planning and execution of the Bay’s annual events programme.
- Draft and maintain EMPs, risk assessments, and other event documentation.
- Coordinate volunteer and staff recruitment, training, and management for events.
- Liaise with stakeholders to deliver seamless cultural, festival, and community events.
- Ensure compliance with council policies, public safety regulations, and destination strategy objectives.
- Monitor event performance, report outcomes, and recommend improvements.
**Required Skills:**
- Excellent written and verbal communication, suitable for speaking to the public and senior stakeholders.
- Proven event‑management experience from conception through delivery.
- Ability to prioritise tasks, manage time, and maintain productivity under deadlines.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Competence in on‑site decision‑making and effective risk management.
- Experience in working with casual staff, trainees, and volunteers.
- Ability to foster and maintain partnerships with external organisations.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Relevant qualification in event management, hospitality, tourism, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- No specific certifications mandatory, but knowledge of health & safety, risk assessment, and public sector event policies is essential.
