**Job Title:** Staff Platform Engineer (EU)
**Role Summary:**
Senior engineer responsible for designing, building, and scaling Ashby’s core infrastructure and platform services. Combines platform engineering and site reliability engineering (SRE) duties to ensure high‑performance, secure, and maintainable systems that support rapid product development and large‑scale hiring workloads.
**Expectations:**
- Own end‑to‑end delivery of infrastructure projects with minimal supervision.
- Drive reliability, security, and scalability while balancing flexibility for product teams.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to define and meet SLOs/SLIs.
- Mentor junior team members and promote a culture of ownership and best‑practice infrastructure‑as‑code.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Optimize and maintain the internal DSL‑to‑SQL compiler and related tooling.
- Implement automated security and privacy guardrails for customer data.
- Design and operate canary deployments, gradual rollouts, and feature‑flag frameworks to reduce downtime.
- Define, monitor, and improve service level objectives (SLOs) and indicators (SLIs).
- Build resilient communication patterns with external services (retries, circuit‑breakers).
- Develop infrastructure for event‑driven architectures and data warehousing solutions.
- Manage infrastructure‑as‑code pipelines, monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes.
**Required Skills:**
- Strong programming experience (e.g., Go, Python, Rust, or Java) and ability to write production‑grade code.
- Deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and infrastructure‑as‑code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi).
- Proven SRE background: observability, alerting, incident management, capacity planning.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, canary releases, feature flags, and deployment automation.
- Solid understanding of security best practices, data privacy, and compliance (e.g., GDPR).
- Familiarity with event‑driven systems, message queues, and data warehouse technologies.
- Excellent problem‑solving mindset, strong communication, and ability to influence cross‑functional teams.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator) are a plus but not mandatory.
