Job Description
Job title: Consultant Structural Engineer – Contract (outside IR35) Role Summary: Provide independent contract support for offshore structural assessment, analysis, and life extension of oil and gas facilities. Deliver technical solutions for brown‑field modifications and new structural designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Expections: – Deliver high‑quality engineering analyses and reports on schedule. – Lead multidisciplinary teams, coordinating with process, mechanical, piping, and other engineering disciplines. – Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to stakeholders and clients. – Maintain rigorous technical standards and uphold best practices for offshore structural safety. Key Responsibilities: 1. Conduct offshore structural & brown‑field modification assessments, developing strategies to evaluate and support structural changes. 2. Perform advanced SACS analysis, evaluating in‑place conditions, load scenarios (seismic, accidental), and new design requirements. 3. Lead front‑end and conceptual engineering for offshore modifications, including space and layout planning. 4. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate design solutions across engineering disciplines. 5. Ensure technical compliance with API, ISO, and offshore safety regulations. 6. Draft detailed technical reports and recommendations for clients. 7. Oversee life extension strategy development for offshore facilities. 8. Manage team of engineers, ensuring effective coordination and delivery of project objectives. Required Skills: – Advanced structural analysis using SACS software. – Comprehensive knowledge of offshore structural standards (API, ISO). – Experience in offshore life‑extension projects (North Sea, Middle East, Asia‑Pacific). – Strong project management, problem‑solving, and communication abilities. – Ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams. – Proficiency in English (written and spoken). Required Education & Certifications: – Formal qualification in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field. – Demonstrated experience in offshore structural engineering, including design, analysis, condition assessment, and life‑extension strategy. – Certification or proven competency in SACS structural analysis. ---
