Job Description
**Job Title:** Rail Systems Maintenance Technician – Level 4 **Role Summary:** Perform reactive and corrective maintenance on railway signaling and passenger information equipment—including CCTV, Customer Information Systems (CIS), Public Address (PA) and Public Address‑Visual (PAVA), and Station Information & Security Systems (SISS)—across TOC stations in West London and the M3/M4 corridor. **Expectations:** - Work standard Monday‑to‑Friday daytime shift. - Respond promptly to fault reports and complete corrective actions within defined service level agreements. - Maintain accurate service records and adhere to health, safety, and railway operating procedures. **Key Responsibilities:** - Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair faults on CCTV, CIS, PA/PAVA, and SISS equipment. - Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and replace defective components. - Coordinate with control centres and other technical teams to minimise service disruption. - Test and commission repaired or newly installed system modules. - Document all maintenance activities in the asset management system. - Ensure compliance with safety regulations, lock‑out/tag‑out procedures, and railway standards. **Required Skills:** - Strong electrical/mechanical troubleshooting abilities. - Proficiency with railway signalling, CCTV, public address, and passenger information systems. - Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals. - Experience using hand and power tools, test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, network analyzers). - Good communication and teamwork skills; capable of interfacing with operations staff. - Familiarity with health‑and‑safety and electrical safety regulations (e.g., LOTO, CSCS). **Required Education & Certifications:** - Minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Railway Engineering, or a related technical field. - Valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card or equivalent railway safety certification. - Relevant electrical qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds 2365/2366) preferred. - Up‑to‑date First‑Aid and/or Basic Fire Safety certification advisable.
