About the Company

Infrabel builds, maintains and renews the railway infrastructure in Belgium: tracks, switches, bridges, tunnels, overpasses and signals. We also coordinate and and monitor all the trains that run on our rail network. 24 hours a day 7 days a week. This means that 600,000 travellers a day and 50 million tons of goods a year safely reach their destination.

Job Description
Job title Intern – Specialist Machinist (Secondary Level) Role Summary Support a senior machinist in the production and assembly of railway components. Gain practical experience in CNC machine operation, machining program development, part assembly, and quality control within a railway infrastructure workshop. Expectations - Observe and adhere to strict safety procedures. - Perform tasks with precision and reliability. - Work independently and in small teams on a fixed daytime schedule. - Complete a minimum 2‑week internship, with potential start in January 2026 or as required by training schedule. Key Responsibilities - Manufacture, assemble, and machine railway components using CNC machines (milling, turning, etc.). - Assist in developing machining programs for CNC equipment. - Build assemblies following detailed work instructions. - Conduct quality inspections of machined parts. - Collaborate with colleagues to maintain workflow and meet production targets. Required Skills - Mechanical aptitude and basic understanding of machining principles. - Comfort with operating CNC machinery. - Strong attention to detail and accuracy. - Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. - Team‑oriented mindset and good communication. - Commitment to safety and work‑zone hygiene. Required Education & Certifications - Final or penultimate year of secondary vocational or technical education with a focus on machining or related field. - Familiarity with safety regulations in a workshop setting. - No additional certifications required, though knowledge of basic safety training is preferred.
