Provide engineering support for the maintenance, calibration, integration, and operational performance of nuclear‑grade instrumentation sensors and associated control systems. Carry out specification, programming, testing, and linking of field instrumentation to safety‑critical control and automation functions.
**Expectations:**
- Maintain safety and reliability of I&C instrumentation in a nuclear environment.
- Ensure compliance with nuclear I&C, EMC, and safety documentation standards.
- Deliver timely, accurate engineering solutions and updated documentation.
- Support continuous improvement through failure analysis and performance monitoring.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Design, install, calibrate, configure, and monitor field sensors (PT100 RTDs, IEC 60751/60584 thermocouples).
- Configure and verify flow, level, and pressure transmitters in safety and non‑safety systems.
- Integrate sensors into PCS/DCS/PLC control command systems, ensuring correct data acquisition and signal processing.
- Develop, modify, and troubleshoot control logic and automation sequences.
- Ensure wiring, shielding, grounding, and routing meet I&C and EMC nuclear standards.
- Participate in loop checks, commissioning, validation, and on‑site testing.
- Conduct failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA), diagnostics, and maintenance strategy development.
- Maintain all engineering documentation in accordance with nuclear safety, configuration control, and QA procedures.
**Required Skills:**
- Expertise in industrial/nuclear thermocouples and PT100 sensors.
- Experience with flow, level, and pressure transmitters (e.g., differential pressure, vortex, ultrasonic, radar).
- Proficiency in programming/configuring PCS/DCS/PLC platforms (Ovation, Foxboro, Siemens, Rolls‑Royce Spinline, teleperm, etc.).
- Knowledge of sensor signal conditioning, upgrade paths, and measurement chain integration.
- Familiarity with industrial automation protocols (4‑20 mA, HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, Modbus).
- Strong understanding of nuclear I&C and EMC standards; ability to interpret and apply relevant regulations.
- Competence in failure analysis, diagnostics, and documentation quality control.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree (Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Instrumentation, or related field).
- Relevant licensing/certification for nuclear I&C (e.g., UK Nuclear I&C, IAEA, or equivalent).
- PLC/automation certification (e.g., Siemens Certified Programmer, Foxboro Qualified Engineer).
- Minimum Security Clearance: Security Clearance (SC) or higher.
