Job Description: **Job Title:** Software Engineer – RPG Mainframe Developer **Role Summary:** Seasoned RPG developer required for a 12‑month contract, working remotely to design and build RPG‑based applications. Responsibilities include writing new code, creating and automating integration tests, and supporting both internal and external systems. **Expectations:** - Minimum 5 years of professional RPG development experience. - Proficient in modern technologies: RPG IV, COBOL, and Java. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively with business analysts. - Commitment to a 12‑month contract schedule and regular remote availability. **Key Responsibilities:** - Develop new features and maintain existing RPG codebases. - Design application architecture for RPG‑centric solutions. - Create and automate integration tests to ensure application reliability. - Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and provide technical guidance. - Support internal and external services, troubleshooting and resolving issues. **Required Skills:** - Expert knowledge of RPG IV and COBOL programming. - Strong understanding of Java and its integration with mainframe systems. - Experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g., Jenkins, JUnit, or equivalent). - Familiarity with integration concepts, APIs, and service-oriented architecture. - Ability to write clean, efficient, maintainable code and documentation. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. - Certifications in IBM i (formerly AS/400) or related mainframe technologies are preferred. ---
