Job Title: Co‑op Student – Geology Role Summary: 8‑12 month field‑office rotational internship supporting exploration and mine operations. Responsibilities include survey planning, coal sampling, seam staking, data entry, and cross‑department collaboration. Expectations: Adherence to health & safety policies; capability to juggle multiple projects; willingness to work outdoors in diverse weather; proactive communication with Engineering, Geology, and Mine Operations. Key Responsibilities: • Participate in exploration planning and project scheduling. • Collect and analyse coal samples; stake coal seams onsite. • Maintain and update the Coal Quality database. • Engage with cross‑functional teams to integrate geological data into operational decisions. • Identify and propose innovative technologies or methods to improve exploration and extraction processes. Required Skills: • Active coursework in Geology, Geological Engineering, or Geochemistry. • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence (or equivalent) without learner’s restriction. • Ability to operate vehicles in varied terrain and weather conditions. • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access). • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication, able to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences. • Self‑motivated project management and multitasking skills. Required Education & Certifications: • Current university student pursuing an undergraduate degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or Geochemistry. • Class 5 driver’s licence. • Willingness to comply with pre‑employment drug screening and reference checks.
