Job Description
**Job title**: Category Manager **Role Summary**: Own and manage key spend categories to deliver cost efficiencies, risk mitigation, sustainability, and service excellence. Lead end‑to‑end tendering, negotiation, and contract award processes and develop multi‑year category strategies that align with corporate objectives. **Expectations**: - Deliver annual savings targets while maintaining or improving supplier quality and delivery performance. - Influence procurement processes and systems across the organization. - Drive innovation and sustainability initiatives, supporting science‑based targets (SBTi). - Build stakeholder relationships and provide strategic insight to senior stakeholders. **Key Responsibilities**: - Design and implement category strategies, including spend analysis, market mapping, and risk assessment. - Lead complex, multi‑stakeholder tender processes, evaluate bids on commercial and quality criteria, and negotiate contracts. - Monitor and report on savings, performance metrics, and compliance with procurement policies. - Partner with supply chain, logistics, and operational teams to ensure seamless execution and continuous improvement. - Champion sustainability requirements within categories and track progress against company targets. **Required Skills**: - 5+ years of strategic procurement experience in a category‑management model. - Proven ability to manage complex tenders, evaluate commercial and quality outcomes, and negotiate high‑value contracts. - Strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder‑management skills. - Ability to think strategically, influence decision‑makers, and drive change in matrix organisations. - Knowledge of logistics and supply‑chain operations; experience in the waste or related industry is advantageous. **Required Education & Certifications**: - Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, economics, or related field. - Professional qualification such as CIPS (preferred).
