Job title: Freelance – Senior AI Systems Engineer
Role Summary:
Design, develop, and deliver advanced AI architectures for defense‑grade product innovation. Lead the creation of distributed, multi‑agent, neuro‑symbolic systems with robust orchestration and observability, ensuring integration with low‑level components beyond Python.
Expectations:
- Deliver cutting‑edge AI architectural solutions that meet stringent defense performance and safety standards.
- Operate effectively in a remote or freelance capacity, managing project milestones, documentation, and stakeholder communication within agreed timelines.
- Showcase expertise in distributed AI, graph‑based knowledge representation, and neuro‑symbolic reasoning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and implement distributed AI systems, including orchestration logic and observability layers.
- Design and integrate multi‑agent frameworks, knowledge graphs, and neuro‑symbolic components.
- Utilize technologies such as Hyperon, Graphiti, Neo4j, and OpenTelemetry for system design and monitoring.
- Develop and maintain low‑level (e.g., C++, Rust) integration points to optimize performance and reliability.
- Produce architecture documentation, API specifications, and integration test plans.
- Diagnose and resolve performance, scalability, and security issues across AI components.
- Advise on best practices for defense‑grade software development, compliance, and risk management.
Required Skills:
- Proven experience designing complex AI architectures, especially distributed and multi‑agent systems.
- Strong knowledge of graph technologies (Neo4j, Graphiti, Hyperon) and neuro‑symbolic approaches.
- Hands‑on familiarity with observability tools, particularly OpenTelemetry.
- Ability to program and optimize in low‑level languages (C++, Rust, Go) in addition to Python.
- Sound understanding of orchestration tools (Kubernetes, Nomad, or equivalent).
- Excellent problem‑solving, documentation, and communication skills.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Systems Engineering, or related field.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CKA/CKAD, AWS Certified Machine Learning, or equivalent) are a plus but not mandatory.
