Job Description
Job Title: Teaching Assistant – ASD Resourced Provision Role Summary: Support pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a year‑long fixed‑term contract. Facilitate classroom learning, behavior management, and individualized activities within the resourced provision, working collaboratively with teachers and the SEN team. Expectations: Demonstrate flexibility, strong teamwork, and a commitment to continuous learning. Maintain a positive, calm, and respectful environment for all students, ensuring adherence to instructional routines and behavior systems. Key Responsibilities: - Assist teachers in delivering explicit, structured lessons tailored to ASD learners. - Implement behavior support plans, manage transitions, and maintain classroom routines. - Deliver targeted interventions, including one‑to‑one or small group support during and outside scheduled lessons. - Monitor student progress, record observations, and contribute to data collection. - Create inclusive learning materials and adapt visual supports. - Collaborate with SEN coordinators, therapists, and parents to implement individualized educational plans. - Uphold safeguarding policies and complete required reporting. Required Skills: - Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. - Strong communication, active listening, and empathy. - Classroom behavior management with a focus on positive reinforcement. - Flexibility to adapt teaching approaches to diverse learning needs. - Basic digital literacy (e.g., attendance systems, record‑keeping). - Problem‑solving and time‑management skills. Required Education & Certifications: - Qualified Teaching Assistant (QTA) or equivalent. - DBS clearance and satisfactory references. - Relevant training in autism and SEN support preferred.
