Job Description
**Job title** Electronics R&D Engineer Intern (F/M) **Role Summary** Intern in a growing R&D unit supports neuroscience research by designing, prototyping, testing, and documenting innovative electronic devices. Works closely with researchers, the electronics lead, and possibly embedded software engineers to deliver functional hardware for clinical and fundamental studies. **Expectations** - Drive end‑to‑end electronic system development from requirement analysis to prototype validation. - Produce high‑quality technical documentation suitable for open‑source publication. - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and maintain rigorous testing and documentation practices. - Optionally develop embedded code for designed devices under guidance of a real‑time embedded engineer. **Key Responsibilities** - Analyze user needs and draft detailed electronic specifications. - Design schematic and PCB layouts using KiCad (or equivalent) for ≤5 prototypes. - Select passive/active components, actuators, and sensors; justify choices. - Perform functional tests, adjust designs, and execute repair work (hand soldering). - Document hardware designs, test procedures, and results for internal records and potential open‑source release. - (If applicable) Develop embedded firmware in low‑level C/assembly for the designed PCB. **Required Skills** - Strong foundations in analog and digital electronics. - Hands‑on experience with at least one PCB CAD tool (KiCad, Altium, Eagle). - Practical PCB design, component selection, schematic creation, and routing skills. - Ability to solder components and manage assembly parameters or subcontracted board production. - Proficient with measurement instruments (oscilloscope, multimeter, etc.). - Basic knowledge of embedded programming (microcontrollers, low‑level languages) preferred. - Professional English (reading, writing, speaking). - Team‑oriented, creative, meticulous, curious, and sensitive to medical research constraints (reliability, confidentiality). **Required Education & Certifications** - Current student in an engineering school or master’s program, specializing in electronics or a related field (equivalent to BAC+4/5). - No specific certifications required beyond academic standing.
