Lead Back‑End Engineer
**Role Summary**
Lead and architect the development of core back‑end services, data pipelines, and permission/account management systems. Drive technical strategy, mentor colleagues, and deliver production releases frequently while ensuring scalability, quality, and maintainability.
**Expectations**
- Own technical decisions and system architecture for critical features.
- Mentor and coach a small team of back‑end developers.
- Deliver high‑quality code with frequent, reliable releases (daily or faster).
- Collaborate with product, design, data science, and marketing to validate ideas through experiments and user feedback.
- Balance rapid delivery with long‑term extensibility and engineering excellence.
**Key Responsibilities** |
- Design, build, and maintain microservices using Kotlin/Spring Boot, Python/Django, and FastAPI.
- Implement data collection, account, and permission systems with a focus on security and performance.
- Write and maintain data pipelines, integrating dbt, BigQuery, and Airflow.
- Define CI/CD pipelines via ArgoCD and GitHub Actions; manage Kubernetes and Terraform on GCP.
- Break down complex problems, create modular solutions, and ship incremental releases.
- Mentor teammates, influence best practices, and improve developer experience.
- Conduct experiments and use real‑world feedback to iterate product features.
**Required Skills** |
- 7+ years of back‑end development experience.
- Proficiency in Kotlin/Spring Boot, Python (Django, FastAPI).
- Experience with GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD workflows.
- Strong database skills (SQL, BigQuery, PostgreSQL).
- Familiarity with data‑engineering tools (dbt, Airflow).
- Solid coding standards, test‑driven development, and automated deployments.
- Ability to distill ambiguous problems into simple, elegant designs.
**Required Education & Certifications** |
- Bachelor’s (or higher) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Preferred: Certifications in Kubernetes, Cloud Architecture, or GCP.
