**Job Title:** Associate Data Scientist – Graduate Programme
**Role Summary:**
A 12‑month rotational graduate programme that alternates between Applied Data Science and Data Science Engineering. Participants develop analytical solutions, generate insights, and build scalable data products for diverse retail and brand clients. The programme nurtures technical, analytical, and stakeholder‑management skills, culminating in a comprehensive understanding of end‑to‑end data science workflows.
**Expectations:**
- Undergraduate degree (or equivalent) with a 2.1 or higher in a STEM or numerate discipline (Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Chemistry, Physics, Economics, etc.).
- Proven ability to apply a range of analytical techniques to solve business problems.
- Strong logical reasoning and problem‑solving aptitude.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships across teams.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Conduct data‑driven projects as an Applied Data Scientist: data exploration, feature engineering, model development, and insights communication.
- Design and develop data science engineering solutions: build reusable pipelines, APIs, and dashboards to support internal and client-facing products.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (data engineers, product managers, clients) to understand objectives and deliver actionable outcomes.
- Iterate on modelling approaches, conduct model validation, and monitor performance over time.
- Participate in knowledge‑sharing sessions and contribute to the programme’s continuous improvement.
**Required Skills:**
- Statistical analysis and machine‑learning techniques.
- Programming proficiency in Python (pandas, scikit‑learn, scikit‑surprise, etc.) and SQL.
- Experience with data manipulation, visualization (Matplotlib/Seaborn/Plotly), and reporting tools.
- Familiarity with data pipeline construction and version control (Git).
- Strong analytical thinking and hypothesis‑driven approach.
- Effective communication and presentation abilities.
- Team‑oriented mindset and relationship‑building skills.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree, 2.1 grade or higher, in a STEM or numerate field (Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Chemistry, Physics, Economics, or related discipline).
- No mandatory certifications, but knowledge of data‑science or analytics certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate) is a plus.
