Job Title: Head of Data – SC Role Summary Lead the definition and implementation of the organisation’s cross‑organisation data purpose, vision, strategy, and governance. Drive the delivery of a resilient, future‑focused data capability in partnership with the CIO, executive leadership, and external stakeholders across MOD, academia, and industry. Oversee assurance of data holdings, ensuring compliance with regulatory, statutory, departmental and contractual obligations. 4. Design and manage the data governance function, including policy, assurance, training, and technical support. 5. Build and sustain external partnerships with government, academia, and industry to embed best practice and enhance operational impact. 6. Represent the organisation as the local data domain owner across MOD and wider government, reporting to the MOD CDO and MOD CIO. 7. Advise executive stakeholders on data capability, governance, policy, and interoperability, preparing and delivering assurance products. 8. Promote a data‑driven culture that embraces experimentation and the ‘art of the possible’ within a defence context.
