**Job Title:** Health, Safety, and Environment Specialist
**Role Summary:** Implement and maintain occupational health, safety, and environmental management systems to ensure compliance with ISO, legislative standards, and organizational policies. Drive workplace safety culture, manage incident investigations, and support sustainability initiatives.
**Expectations:** Achieve zero harm goals, maintain regulatory compliance, optimize health and safety programs, and provide leadership on hazard mitigation strategies.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Oversee implementation and compliance of ISO45001/ISO14001 OHSMS/EMS systems.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and manage corrective actions for safety and environmental risks.
- Develop and deliver training programs for employees, contractors, and new hires.
- Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and report outcomes in internal systems.
- Coordinate Zero Harm suggestion programs, track KPIs, and meet quarterly/yearly goals.
- Manage chemical inventory, SDS compliance, and WHMIS training.
- Lead Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) activities and collaborate with Ergonomics Committees.
- Ensure compliance with WSIB regulations and early return-to-work protocols for occupational injuries.
- Create safety alerts, action plans, and policies to reduce workplace injuries and environmental risks.
- Support sustainability data submissions and energy/environmental reporting.
- Facilitate cross-site collaboration through plant travel and contractor management.
**Required Skills:**
- Proficiency in OHSA, WSIA, and ISO45001/14001 standards.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management abilities.
- Analytical skills for risk assessment and incident resolution.
- Advanced computer literacy (Microsoft Office suite, HSELinx systems).
- Experience in OHSMS/EMS implementation and auditing.
- Ability to work independently, lead projects, and collaborate in teams.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
- Valid OHSA certification; experience with WHMIS training.
- Certifications in ISO45001 or ISO14001 management systems preferred.
