**Job Title:**
Data Engineer
**Role Summary:**
Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and platforms for research and commercial use. Collaborate cross‑functionally with data scientists, product owners, and engineers to deliver secure, high‑quality, well‑tested code in a fast‑paced, design‑driven environment.

**Key Responsibilities:**
- Engineer robust data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and publishing data assets.
- Collaborate with data scientists, product owners, and engineering peers to shape next‑generation data platform products and services.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well‑documented code; ensure thorough testing, security, and performance best practices.
- Resolve technical roadblocks quickly to deliver iterative value to users.
- Apply Infrastructure‑as‑Code principles and security controls (RBAC, encryption at rest, networking).
- Embrace LLM‑assisted development where appropriate.
**Required Skills:**
*Technical:*
- Expertise in designing and building data platforms (financial domain preferred).
- Proficient with Python (Pandas, Airflow, PySpark, SQLAlchemy, Dask, Great Expectations, Scikit‑Learn).
- Experience in Linux, containerization (Docker), relational databases (PostgreSQL).
- Knowledge of AWS services (CDK/Python, Bedrock, SageMaker) and IaC.
- Strong understanding of security best practices (RBAC, encryption, networking).
- Ability to debug, optimise, and troubleshoot complex data‑engineering problems.
*Soft:*
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong teamwork, cross‑functional collaboration, and stakeholder engagement.
- Self‑motivated, proactive, and capable of working autonomously under tight deadlines.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and rapidly changing environments.

**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Data Engineering) are a plus but not mandatory.
