Job Description
**Job Title** Java Software Engineer – Quantitative Hedge Fund **Role Summary** Mid‑level Java Software Engineer responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining core application suite across front‑to‑back office for a leading hedge fund. **Expectations** - 4–6 years of professional, post‑graduate experience in Java development. - Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals (OOP, concurrency, generics). - Exposure to modern DevOps practices (CI/CD pipelines). - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Academic background in Computing/Computer Science from a leading university (numerate discipline). **Key Responsibilities** - Own full software development lifecycle for order management, trading execution, risk, finance, STP, and corporate functions. - Collaborate with business users to gather requirements, perform analysis, design and architecture of solutions. - Implement high‑performance, scalable Java applications, incorporating concurrency and generics. - Develop supporting features in Python and SQL; occasional use of MATLAB. - Participate in code reviews, unit and integration testing, performance tuning, and deployment. - Maintain and enhance existing code base; troubleshoot defects and optimize solutions. - Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and toolchains. **Required Skills** - Proven Java development experience (JDK 8+). - Solid knowledge of OOP principles, concurrency primitives, and generics. - Hands‑on experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.). - Comfortable with relational databases and SQL. - Familiarity with Python and MATLAB preferred. - Strong debugging, problem‑solving, and documentation skills. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross‑functional team. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computing/Computer Science, Mathematics, or related numerate discipline from a leading university. - No mandatory certifications required.
