**Job Title**
Principal SRE (Azure Specialist)
**Role Summary**
Lead design, deployment, and operations of Azure‑hosted runtime environments for a global SaaS platform. Architect an end‑to‑end migration from AWS to Azure, ensuring regulatory compliance, zero‑trust security, and operational excellence. Drive IaC standards, observability, and automation to enable scalable, resilient infrastructure.
**Expectations**
- Oversee the Azure migration project with a focus on platform parity and compliance.
- Lead cross‑functional technical initiatives across architecture, security, and product teams.
- Demonstrate deep expertise in Azure services, Kubernetes, and DevOps tooling.
- Champion self‑healing, cost‑optimized, and secure infrastructure that supports rapid region expansion.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Design, implement, and maintain Azure environments across multiple global regions.
- Build reusable Terraform modules for networking, compute, and managed PaaS services.
- Integrate Azure‑native logging, monitoring, and cost‑management into observability pipelines.
- Resolve incidents, conduct failure domain analysis, and implement proactive remediation.
- Define secure service‑to‑service communication using Azure AD workload identity and pod identities.
- Collaborate with Compliance and Security to satisfy UK, EU, and French regulatory requirements.
- Drive automation for self‑healing systems to reduce toil.
- Lead GitOps practices and pipeline automation for rapid infrastructure provisioning.
- Mentor and guide engineering teams on Azure best practices and operational excellence.
**Required Skills**
- 15+ years in infrastructure, cloud, or SRE roles.
- 5+ years architecting or operating Azure environments (AKS, Azure Monitor, Storage, VNets, Private Link, Azure AD).
- 3+ years experience with GitOps and declarative IaC (Terraform, Bicep, Pulumi).
- 3+ years managing CI/CD pipelines.
- 2+ years software development experience; strong Bash, Python, or Go scripting.
- Proficiency in Azure managed identities, Azure AD integration, and Kubernetes identity patterns.
- Proven track record of supporting compliance in UK/EU‑regulated environments.
- Excellent communication, cross‑regional collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Relevant Azure certifications (e.g., AZ‑104, AZ‑303/304, AZ‑400, or equivalent cloud architecture credentials) strongly preferred.
