Job title: Solution Architect (Cloud & Data Platforms)
Role Summary:
Senior Solution Architect responsible for designing and leading the development of a modern, cloud‑native data platform focused on Databricks. Acts as technical authority across multiple squads, bridging investment business needs with backend platform engineering. Drives architecture decisions on AWS, ensures compliance and security, and delivers high‑quality artefacts that align with regulatory standards.
Expectations:
* Own end‑to‑end architecture for a multi‑year data & analytics transformation.
* Translate complex investment requirements into scalable, secure, and cost‑effective solutions.
* Lead design and technology choices, balancing innovation with proven reliability and compliance.
* Deliver proofs of concept, review code, and unblock engineering teams.
* Maintain consistency with SDLC, security, and audit frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
• Establish design patterns, reference architectures, and templates for cloud-based data platforms.
• Own and document architecture decisions across AWS components (VPC, security, networking, performance, scalability, cost).
• Build and validate proofs of concept, and provide hands‑on coding and configuration support.
• Review engineering output for quality, adherence to patterns, and compliance.
• Produce architecture diagrams, design decisions, trade‑off analyses, and non‑functional requirement documentation.
• Engage with business, security, infrastructure, compliance, and executive stakeholders.
• Challenge assumptions and promote sound engineering practice.
• Ensure solutions meet regulatory, risk‑management, and audit requirements.
Required Skills:
• 10+ years of senior architecture experience, preferably in investment or financial services.
• Deep expertise in Databricks Lakehouse architecture, AWS cloud-native services, and Snowflake integration patterns.
• Strong background in backend and platform engineering: data pipelines, distributed systems, CI/CD, release governance.
• Proven ability to lead architecture across multiple squads and deliver enterprise‑scale platforms.
• Experience in regulated, audited environments; knowledge of SDLC, security, compliance, and audit processes.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and architectural documentation skills.
• Pragmatic, engineering‑first mindset; judicious technology selection; ability to challenge trends.
Required Education & Certifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Relevant cloud certifications – e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate/Professional.
• Databricks Certified Professional.
