**Job Title:** Infrastructure Engineer
**Role Summary:**
Responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and reliability of on‑premises and cloud infrastructure across a multi‑site education organization. Works with Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory, server and network services to ensure high availability, security, and continuous improvement while providing third‑line technical support and participating in project deliveries.
**Expectations:**
- 3–5 years of 3rd‑line infrastructure experience in a support desk or MSP environment.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve escalated incidents promptly.
- Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills; capable of mentoring peers.
- Independent work style with adherence to ITIL processes and governance.
- Willingness to travel to UK sites as required.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Support, maintain, and enhance Windows Server (2016‑2025) and Windows 10/11 environments.
- Manage Active Directory, Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Purview), Entra ID/Intune, and Azure services.
- Administer Hyper‑V virtualization and monitor server health.
- Oversee network infrastructure (Meraki, Ubiquiti, WAN/LAN, VLAN, routing, switching, IP addressing) and firewalls.
- Lead tenant consolidation and cross‑tenant configuration for Microsoft 365.
- Coordinate with suppliers, resellers, and service providers.
- Document designs, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Collaborate with Information Security to implement cyber‑security improvements.
- Participate in change management, governance, and project work (acquisitions, technology upgrades).
- Provide mentorship and knowledge‑sharing within the IT team.
**Required Skills:**
- Windows Server 2016‑2025 administration.
- Active Directory and Microsoft 365 suite management (Exchange, SharePoint, Purview).
- Entra ID/Intune support.
- Enterprise firewall and network management (LAN/WAN, VLAN, routing, switching, IP).
- Virtualisation (Hyper‑V) concepts.
- Strong ITIL knowledge and best‑practice application.
- Analytical, troubleshooting, prioritisation, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, customer service, and organisational skills.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Relevant professional IT certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, MCSA, CCNA) **or** a degree in Computer Science/IT (or equivalent experience).
- Working towards or holding additional certifications is advantageous.
