**Job Title**
Data Engineer – 12‑Month Fixed‑Term Contract
**Role Summary**
Design, build, and maintain scalable data and analytics architectures to support business intelligence, analytics, and operational data needs. Lead the establishment of enterprise data foundations, including data models, pipelines, governance, and security, primarily on Microsoft Azure and Fabric cloud environments, to advance the organization’s data maturity and ensure data integrity, availability, quality, and security.
**Expectations**
- Deliver end‑to‑end data architecture solutions that enable reliable, secure, and high‑performance data and analytics capabilities.
- Drive data governance, master data management, and compliance practices to ensure consistency and regulatory alignment.
- Act as a technical liaison between system implementation, analytics development, and business stakeholders, translating requirements into robust solutions.
- Promote continuous improvement by evaluating tools, recommending new technologies, and shaping the data roadmap.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Engage with Data & Analytics Manager and business stakeholders to gather and prioritize requirements, ensuring data is standardized, accessible, interoperable, and reusable.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure data and analytics architectures across Microsoft Azure and Fabric.
- Lead on data architecture best practices, including AI‑driven automation for data management and processing.
- Build, optimise, and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes, improving reliability, performance, and data quality.
- Develop and maintain enterprise data models, master data management (MDM), and data governance frameworks.
- Monitor tool usage, recommend technology enhancements, and support future roadmap, training, and operational support.
- Provide leadership and guidance on data governance, security, and compliance to meet regulatory standards.
**Required Skills**
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering or data architecture.
- Hands‑on expertise with Microsoft Azure, Azure Synapse, and Microsoft Fabric data platforms.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, and modern data modelling techniques.
- Solid understanding of data governance, security, compliance, and enterprise data management best practices.
- Experience with master data management (MDM) and data cataloguing tools.
- Knowledge of AI solution architecture for data automation (advantage).
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills; ability to lead change in low data‑maturity environments.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Professional certifications desirable: TOGAF, DAMA, or equivalent data architecture/management credentials.
