Job Description
Job title: Data and Insights Engineer Role Summary: Build and maintain scalable data pipelines in Databricks, transform raw datasets into analytics-ready formats, and deliver insights through Power BI. Collaborate with stakeholders to streamline data flows, automate reporting, and support AI/ML initiatives. Expactations: Partner with business units to understand reporting needs, identify process improvements, transition legacy reports to automated frameworks, troubleshoot complex data issues, and mentor junior team members. Key Responsibilities: - Design, develop, and maintain reusable data pipelines in Databricks using PySpark and SQL. - Cleanse, transform, and enrich data from diverse sources into trustworthy datasets. - Automate, standardise, and optimise existing data processes. - Migrate reporting solutions to sustainable, automated frameworks integrating Databricks and Power BI. - Engage stakeholders to gather requirements, manage expectations, and deliver actionable insights. - Resolve data quality and performance issues using analytical problem‑solving. - Coach and mentor team members in data engineering practices. Required Skills: - Python (PySpark) and SQL programming proficiency. - Hands‑on experience with Databricks or equivalent data integration platforms. - Data visualization expertise with Power BI (Alteryx optional). - Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. - Effective communication and stakeholder‑management skills. - Experience deploying AI/ML models into production (preferred). - Coaching or mentoring experience. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline. - Databricks or PySpark certification preferred. - Other relevant data‑engineering certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst, AWS Certified Data Analytics) are valued.
