Job Title: Senior Backend Engineer

Location: San Jose, California (Hybrid - 3 days onsite)

Work Schedule

*Duration: 6 months

*Hours: 40 hours/week (8 hours/day), Monday-Friday

*Mode: Hybrid (3 days per week onsite, 2 remote)

Pay & Work Authorization

*Max Rate: $91.55/hour (USD)

Employment Type: W2 (No Subcontracting), Not Available (No H-1B)

Job Summary / Objective

The Senior Backend Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining backend services using Java (Spring Boot) and Ruby, with a strong focus on API development, cloud deployment, and system reliability. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, modernizing legacy systems, and ensuring high performance and scalability of services hosted on AWS.

Key Responsibilities

*Develop and maintain backend services with Java (Spring Boot) and Ruby.

*Design, implement, and optimize GraphQL and RESTful APIs.

*Collaborate with product managers, tech leads, and engineers to align technical solutions with business objectives.

*Participate in technical discussions, root cause analysis, and performance tuning.

*Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Git, and Docker.

*Maintain and enhance legacy Ruby codebases, migrating them to modern Java services.

*Ensure system reliability with monitoring tools like New Relic, Splunk, or Grafana.

*Deploy and manage services on AWS (Lambda, RDS, API Gateway).

Required Skills & Experience

*3+ years of backend development experience.

*Strong proficiency in Java (Spring Boot) and Ruby.

*Hands-on experience with GraphQL schema design and query optimization.

*Solid understanding of SQL (Postgres) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.

*Familiarity with APM tools and monitoring frameworks.

*Proven experience with AWS cloud services and deployment strategies.

*Knowledge of version control systems (Git), Agile methodologies, and DevOps practices.

*Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Education

*Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
