Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to work on core platform-level services that are essential to all of our cloud-supported products. You'll gain deep domain and product knowledge, collaborating with multiple teams across the business. The APIs you'll build will be highly scalable and present a variety of technical challenges. We make extensive use of GitHub Copilot to help deliver high-quality, maintainable code. You'll also have opportunities to lead projects, working closely with architects and stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions.

Role Summary:

As a Senior Software Engineer (Backend), you will be responsible for designing, building, enhancing, and maintaining products and systems aligned with Sage's business goals and architectural standards. You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality, scalable solutions that exceed customer and business expectations, while also sharing expertise on technical solutions and business processes within your domain.

This is a hybrid position - you will work 3 days a week from our Newcastle office.

Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-quality backend systems and APIs.
Collaborate with product managers, architects, and cross-functional teams to shape robust solutions.
Lead and contribute to the delivery of projects from concept to deployment.
Drive technical innovation and adopt modern tools, frameworks, and practices.
Mentor and coach junior team members.
Maintain clear technical documentation and ensure code quality standards are met.
Champion Agile best practices and foster a collaborative team culture.

Essential Skills (Must-Haves):

Strong experience with C#, .NET Framework, and MySQL, delivering reliable and scalable solutions.
Microservices
Event-driven architecture
Proven ability to collaborate across functions, including Product Management, QA, and other business units.
Solid working knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies, with a focus on iterative development and continuous improvement.
