POSITION: Security Operations Analyst
Summary

The Security Operations Analyst will provide foundational support in identifying and remediating security threats and vulnerabilities. This role focuses on supporting the management of key security systems, including patch management, vulnerability scanning, firewall monitoring, SIEM, NGAV, and Active Directory. The role is designed to build skills and knowledge in networking and security, preparing the analyst for more advanced responsibilities in the future.
Key Result Areas
Investigate and respond to system alerts from firewalls, IDS/IPS, NGAV, and SIEM. Escalate issues as necessary to senior staff or vendors.
Support the installation, troubleshooting, and monitoring of the NGAV client. Generate weekly and monthly agent status reports and respond to real-time alerts.
Collaborate with team members on scheduling internal and external vulnerability scans. Perform basic investigation of findings and document remediation efforts.
Administer audit log management programs and file data monitoring tools. In partnership with management, review logs from security tools (firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM) and report abnormal activities to senior team members.
Contribute to the development, documentation, and maintenance of Information Technology compliance policies and procedures for both existing and new systems and security tools.
Provide IT security-related support to end users (e.g., password resets, minor access issues).
Establish and maintain collaborative and effective relationships with colleagues, vendors, and customers for troubleshooting and resolving issues.
Stay current with evolving security technologies and best practices by participating in training and reviewing relevant publications.
Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
Associate degree in Information Security, Information Technology, or technology-related field preferred but not required
1-3+ years of professional experience in IT/Infosec/Security Operations
Industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft, Security+, CISSP, etc.) are a plus but not required.
Experience with network management tools focused on security systems, including patch management, firewall, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanning, and security event log management.
Familiarity with PC, LAN technologies, Active Directory, and Windows Server management from a compliance perspective.
Basic experience with security systems such as SIEM, NGAV, and Active Directory monitoring.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Experience with basic threat hunting or anomaly investigation is a plus.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with ability to collaborate effectively with team members, vendors, and other departments.
A highly motivated self-starter capable of working independently.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is required.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings as needed.
Ability to move/handle equipment weighing approximately 40 lbs.
