Location: London (Hybrid/Remote)

Duration: 6-12 Month Contract

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented Senior AI Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. You will be instrumental in the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of advanced, production-grade AI and Machine Learning systems that are central to our product strategy.

This is a hands-on technical role for a "doer" who thrives on solving complex, real-world problems with cutting-edge AI. You will be given significant autonomy to drive projects from concept to deployment, working with a small, agile team of specialists to deliver high-impact features.

What you will do

Lead the architecture and implementation of scalable AI/ML systems, including LLM-powered applications and agentic workflows.
Design and optimise robust Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and vector databases to power our AI features.
Develop, fine-tune, and benchmark large language models (LLMs) and other deep learning models for specific use cases.
Spearhead the design and development of API and backend services to integrate AI capabilities into our core platform.
Create and maintain production-grade MLOps pipelines to ensure reliable deployment, monitoring, and scaling of machine learning models.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and domain experts, to define requirements and translate business challenges into technical AI solutions.

What we are looking for

Experience: Extensive commercial experience as a Senior AI/ML or Backend Engineer, with a proven track record of shipping production-level AI features.
Expertise:
Expert proficiency in Python and modern API development (e.g., FastAPI, Flask).
Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
Proficiency with AI orchestration tools and libraries like LangChain, Haystack, or LlamaIndex.
Deep understanding of MLOps, including containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
Platform Knowledge: Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for AI model deployment and management.
Attributes: A self-motivated, proactive mindset with the ability to take ownership and deliver results in a fast-paced, autonomous environment.

Why join us?

This is a chance to make a significant and lasting impact at the forefront of AI innovation. You will work on challenging and meaningful projects with a high degree of technical freedom, using the latest technologies. Our flexible, remote-first approach allows you to work from anywhere in the UK, with optional access to our London-based hub.

How to apply

If you are a driven Senior AI Engineer looking for a high-impact contract role, please submit your CV and a brief cover letter outlining your relevant experience.
