PeerSource is currently recruiting for a Senior Systems Administrator on a Contract basis. This role can be based out of either Ocoee, FL or Pompano Beach, FL. No third parties.
Summary
We are seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to oversee the daily operations, support, and maintenance of enterprise server and storage infrastructure. This role focuses on virtualization, backup and recovery, security compliance, and system performance optimization. The position involves on-site presence, occasional travel, and participation in an on-call rotation to support mission-critical IT functions.
Responsibilities
Maintain and administer server infrastructure, including virtualized environments (VMware and/or Hyper-V).
Plan, forecast, and implement server and storage systems, including capacity, risk, and contingency planning.
Monitor systems proactively and respond to security vulnerabilities and audits, collaborating with security teams to mitigate risks.
Configure and manage key services such as DNS, DHCP, DFS, Certificates, and Group Policies in a multi-domain environment.
Perform regular backups, disaster recovery testing, and file/folder restoration as needed.
Document configurations, system changes, and support activities using service desk and inventory tools.
Support software rollouts, patching, and system updates across environments.
Mentor junior administrators and serve as an escalation point for complex issues, including after-hours support.
Required Skills
7+ years of experience supporting and administering server infrastructure, with at least 3 years in an enterprise environment.
Proficient in virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V; experience with vSphere strongly preferred.
Skilled in Group Policy management, PowerShell scripting, and server performance forecasting.
Familiar with core services including DNS, DHCP, DFS, Certificates, and Active Directory.
Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and compliance frameworks like PCI.
Ability to travel to remote sites as required.
Bachelor's degree or technical certificate in Information Systems or related field, or equivalent work experience.
Preferred certifications include Azure Fundamentals, MCSE, CISSP, CISM, or CompTIA Security+.
