Senior Progress OpenEdge Database Architect

Location -London/Hybrid

A seasoned IT professional with 20+ years of experience, including the last 5 years managing mission-critical Progress OpenEdge databases (v12.x). Expert in database architecture, performance tuning, and disaster recovery planning.

Key Responsibilities:

Architected high-availability, scalable Progress OpenEdge solutions with robust DR and replication strategies.
Performed deep analysis of database performance, growth trends, and system architecture.
Tuned databases using VSTs, execution plans, DBTOOL, and indexing strategies.
Managed enterprise-wide backup/restore using PROBKUP, PROREST, and RFUTIL.
Implemented advanced monitoring with tools like ProTop for real-time database health tracking.
Automated DBA tasks via Shell, Python, and Perl scripting.
Led DR drills, enforced security policies, and ensured compliance with industry standards.
Maintained Progress environments through schema updates, index rebuilds, storage management, and performance optimization.
Proficient in Linux/Unix system administration and Progress DBA utilities (Proenv shell).
