Position Title: Network Engineer III - LAN/Wireless (Tier 3 | 50%+ Travel)

Location: Raleigh, NC - Hybrid (4 days on-site)

Position Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer III to join a dynamic and fast-paced team supporting enterprise-level LAN and wireless network infrastructure. This is a Tier 3 engineering role ideal for candidates who excel in network design, troubleshooting, and hands-on implementation.

This position requires extensive travel (50% or more) to client sites across the U.S. for surveys, installations, and upgrades of network infrastructure. When not traveling, you'll work in a hybrid capacity from the Raleigh, NC office (4 days/week on-site).

You will serve as a technical escalation point, provide mentorship to Tier 2 engineers, and lead network architecture and deployment projects across a variety of environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Travel to remote U.S. sites for network surveys, installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting
Serve as a Tier 3 escalation point for LAN/Wi-Fi issues from Tier 2 support teams
Design and deploy LAN/Wi-Fi infrastructure, including middle-of-row to core connectivity
Configure and support wireless solutions (Cisco, Aruba, Meraki, Mist, Fortinet)
Perform performance tuning and root cause analysis for outages and performance issues
Plan and lead large-scale network implementation projects, including off-hours upgrades
Mentor Tier 2 network engineers and support personnel
Utilize Ekahau Sidekick and other tools for site survey and Wi-Fi planning
Support routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, RIP, and static routing
Document network designs, architecture, and changes with clear diagrams and records
Ensure network security, switch hardening, and vulnerability mitigation
Collaborate cross-functionally with other IT and security teams for integrated solutions

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in a technical field (or equivalent work experience)
8+ years of overall IT experience, with at least 5 years of hands-on network engineering
Proven expertise with enterprise LAN/Wi-Fi design, implementation, and troubleshooting
Proficient with routing/switching technologies and Cisco IOS (Layer 2 & 3)
Experience with wireless survey/design tools (e.g., Ekahau) and deployment in complex environments
Hands-on experience with enterprise networking solutions (Cisco, Meraki, Aruba, Mist, Fortinet)
Solid understanding of network monitoring tools and analyzing logs (syslog, sniffer, security)
Familiarity with firewall and load balancing configuration and support
Excellent written and verbal communication and documentation skills
Strong independent problem-solving ability and time management skills
Ability to lead site reviews for pathway design, switch planning, and network expansion
Must meet eligibility requirements for a Public Trust Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Industry certifications such as CCNP, CWNP, Aruba Certified Mobility Expert (ACMX)
Experience in federal or enterprise-scale environments
Familiarity with government network compliance standards
