Job Specifications
ThinkLab is the research division of SANDOW DESIGN GROUP (SDG) and sister company to design brands you know and love like Interior Design, Metropolis, Design Milk, Luxe Interiors + Design, and more. Think of us as a B2B version of a consumer research firm--leveraging SDG's incredible reach to the design industry to study how and why designers make the decisions they do when recommending products to their clients.
We love studying designers specifically because of their exponential recommendation power. (In fact, our research suggests they have 40x the recommendation power as the average American consumer has buying power. And, that number climbs to 140x when you get to the INTERIOR DESIGN Giants of Design. Note that this data comes from research we conduct on behalf of our sister brand.) Simply put, we help manufacturers for the built environment harness that buying power. And we believe we make meaningful impact every day for the product brands we serve.
About Your Role with ThinkLab
As a Market Research Analyst (Quantitative), your unique challenge will be to help us design and deliver best-in-class quantitative research--both for our internal industry-leading studies and for our client projects. From crafting surveys to analyzing results, your work will fuel the insights we share with the broader design community and our product brand partners.
Structurally in this role, you will be a core member of the ThinkLab team, but will also regularly interact with our broader SDG family, learning from their expertise in media, digital strategy, and design trends. If you operate with an "intrapreneurial" mindset (meaning, you think like an entrepreneur, but want to be a part of the resources of a bigger organization), this culture will be a great fit for you.
How You Will Make a Difference
As the ThinkLab Market Research Analyst, you will support the team in the following ways:
Survey Design & Programming - Partner with clients and internal stakeholders to translate research objectives into clear, effective survey instruments, and program them for distribution.
Data Analysis & Insights - Analyze survey data, spot trends, and translate findings into compelling stories.
Reporting & Visualization - Develop charts, dashboards, and reports that bring data to life in visually engaging ways.
Comparative Analysis - Track shifts over time by comparing historical and new datasets.
Client Delivery - Present insights to clients and industry audiences in a clear and impactful manner.
What You'll Do
In this role, you'll focus on the full lifecycle of quantitative research projects. Here are a few of the core responsibilities (but full disclosure: if you're looking for a perfectly scripted to-do list, this may not be a fit for you if you prefer to create the list, you're welcome here.):
Design and test surveys that capture meaningful insights.
Program and launch surveys with accuracy and attention to detail.
Analyze and interpret data to uncover trends and answer business questions.
Prepare deliverables (dashboards, reports, presentations) that resonate with clients and our highly visual industry audiences.
Collaborate with ThinkLab colleagues and SDG teams to amplify research findings.
Keys for Your Success
Strong background in quantitative research, survey design, or data analytics.
Research experience in the interiors industry is required.
Experience with survey platforms (Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, or similar).
Comfort with data analysis tools (Excel or equivalent).
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to turn complex data into simple, visually compelling stories.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
Thrives in a collaborative, remote-first team environment.
Our Commitment to You
We will continually innovate and find new ways to stay meaningfully connected in this virtual world.
We will value your fresh eyes and listen to your perspective.
We have high expectations and will be clear with ours, while respecting your work-life balance.
