Software Engineer - Commodity Engineer 2

Job Summary

Our client in Kanata, ON is looking for a Software Engineer - Commodity Engineer 2. This is a contract position.

What You Will Do

We are seeking an experienced Automation Developer to join our Embedded Performance Automation Team. The candidate in this role will be expected to be in the office 5 days a week and in Ottawa. They will join a well-established team spread across multiple sites and play a key part in achieving system and software performance quality goals.

Key Responsibilities

Review nightly automation results to ensure test accuracy and limit regressions in daily testing.
Analyze data to verify test pass results and ensure accuracy.
Automation brings up and monitors Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Triage issues in the lab with hardware.
Support both legacy and newer Electronic Control Units (ECUs).
Contribute to the performance automation and test team by bringing up KPIs and automation.

Basics

Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical/computer engineering, Computer Science or related field.
3-5 years of experience in automation development.
Python.
Proficiency in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) with Python:
Familiarity with class variables and the workings of classes in Python.
Ability to write readable and maintainable code.
Experience with test automation frameworks:
Familiarity with pytest and slash is preferred, but we are open to candidates with experience in other frameworks.
Embedded systems experience:
Understanding of how embedded systems work and operate.
Ability to debug and triage independently:
Proficiency in analyzing logs and identifying issues independently.
Experience in performance automation, inspecting data, and triaging issues.
Proactive attitude and ability to figure things out independently.
Innovative ideas for improving automation processes.
Experience in performance testing.
