Job Title: Senior Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Remote (with ad hoc travel to Manchester office)
Contract Type: 12-Month Fixed Term Contract
Clearance Requirement: Must be eligible for BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) check
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a remote-first role, with occasional travel to our Manchester office as required. You'll be working on mission-critical infrastructure, helping us maintain, secure, and evolve our platforms using modern DevOps tooling and best practices.
You'll play a key role in building and supporting scalable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure primarily in AWS, while also supporting on-prem or hybrid components. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working across a wide range of technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement and manage infrastructure in AWS, using services including but not limited to:
VPC, EC2, EBS, Route 53, WAF, ALB/ELB, Security Groups, NACLs, KMS, S3
Maintain and enhance infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform, Packer, and Puppet
Contribute to CI/CD processes using GitLab CI
Monitor infrastructure and application performance with Prometheus and Grafana
Manage and analyse logs using the ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)
Secure the infrastructure using tools like Vault, Tenable, and integrate security scanning tools like Blackduck, Checkmarx, SonarQube
Support and manage Linux systems (RHEL/CentOS)
Work with databases including MongoDB and MySQL
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including DevOps, Security, and Development to ensure reliable, scalable and secure infrastructure
Required Skills & Experience
Strong hands-on experience with AWS and deep understanding of core services
Proficiency in Linux administration (preferably RHEL/CentOS)
Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Puppet, Packer)
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, particularly GitLab CI
Working knowledge of scripting and automation with Python
Familiarity with security scanning and vulnerability management tools (e.g., Tenable, Blackduck, Checkmarx, SonarQube)
Strong understanding of networking, security principles, and cloud-native security
Solid experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
Experience managing or supporting relational and non-relational databases (MySQL, MongoDB)
Must be eligible for BPSS clearance
