Job Specifications

Thanks for stopping by to take a look at the Application-Focused Production Support role I posted here on LinkedIN, I appreciate it.

Allow me to introduce myself a bit. My name is Tom Welke. I am Partner & VP at RSM Solutions, Inc and I have been recruiting technical talent for over 23 years (been in the tech sector since the 1990s). So, I am going to be far more interested in 'fit' for a role like this one. A fit for you and a fit for the client.

So, what makes for a good fit, you might ask? From a social standpoint, we are seeking that individual who doesn't wait to be told what to do...we are looking for that person that goes ahead and knows what to do and then just gets that thing done. In addition, this role is going to be pretty fast paced...so, that ability to fulfill on your commitments will be needed for success here. If you say you can and will do x, well...we kinda need you to get x done.

This role is a contract role. I am only working with US Citizens or Green Card Holders for this one. In addition, I am only looking at candidates that are located in the greater Manhattan NY area for this one as well. This one is being done onsite in Manhattan. I am not working with external vendors on this role.

Duration on this contract role will be 6+ months. It will probably go a lot longer than that, but I don't want to promise.

We are in need of a Production Support person with experience with Java & Spring Boot and database optimization to support and troubleshoot real-time financial trading systems. So, experience working in either investment banking, PE, or VC firms will be needed for this role.

Essentially, we are seeking an individual that can diagnose and fix the race car engine (in other words, the applications), instead of the person who builds & maintains the highway it runs on (the platform). This role will require deep JVM level debugging and performance tuning, along with a very strong understanding of code & business logic.

You will focus on applications, business logic and financial trading systems and support, troubleshoot and develop trading applications. You should have expertise in Java, Spring Boot, messaging systems, and database optimization. The primary function of this role will be application support and code-level troubleshooting.

Here is what we are seeking:

An absolute must for this role is experience in the financial trading vertical (equities, derivatives, swaps, CDS, CDOs)
Another absolute must for this role are experience with: FIX Protocol, Murex, SwapOne.
Another must have for this role: Kafka, ActiveMQ, and RabbitMQ.
DB experience should include: Snowflake, Oracle, and Sql.
Web Apps Server experience should include: Tomcat & JBoss
CI / CD experience should include: Jenkins, Ansible & Maven.
Containerization experience should include: Docker & Kubernetes.
Cloud experience should include: Both Azure and AWS.
Scripting experience should include: Python & UNIX Shell.
Monitoring & Logging experience should include: Splunk & ELK.
Core programming experience should include: Java (v17, 11 and 8) Spring Boot 3 and Python.

About the Company

We are more focused on low failure rate than a high fill rate. Anyone can SAY this, it is a completely different thing to PROVE it...We have been doing this for over 20 years, and we PROVE it every day. We are unlike any other vendor you have worked with before. We are abundantly sure that you have had this happen...a vendor tells you 'oh my goodness, this is the best candidate you will ever talk to ever...'. Then you talk to the candidate and find out it is nowhere near what you were seeking. Does this sound familiar? If it... Know more
