About the Role

We are supporting a global life sciences engineering program delivering state-of-the-art automation and digital manufacturing systems for a new large-scale production facility.

As a Software Lead Engineer, you’ll play a key technical role within the program’s core automation team, ensuring consistent engineering practices, design quality, and system integrity across multiple integrated automation projects.

This is an ideal opportunity for a senior automation professional with strong DeltaV Batch experience who enjoys leading complex, multi-site projects and ensuring alignment across multiple workstreams (Automation, MES, and Digital).

Key Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership and oversight for automation project execution activities.
Ensure all project deliverables align with established automation strategy, design standards, and regulatory requirements.
Support development, configuration, and testing of DeltaV Batch DCS systems for process automation.
Define and review key automation documents including functional design specs, control strategies, phases, and recipes.
Collaborate with MES and digital teams to ensure seamless integration between systems.
Conduct design reviews and provide guidance to project teams and external partners.
Ensure quality, consistency, and compliance across automation deliverables.
Participate in technical governance reviews and change management processes.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Automation, Chemical, or related discipline) or equivalent experience.
10+ years of experience in automation and control systems within pharmaceutical or biotech manufacturing environments.
5+ years of hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV Batch DCS, including configuration and troubleshooting.
Solid understanding of GMP, validation principles, and regulated manufacturing standards.
Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and Aveva PI (OSIsoft PI) systems preferred.
Strong communication, stakeholder management, and documentation skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within a distributed, multi-disciplinary engineering team.

Travel & Work Model

Hybrid role with on-site presence required in Indiana (approx. 2 weeks per month during initial phase; 1 week per month thereafter).
