Senior Solution Architect – Messaging & File Transfer Migration (Freelance)

Location: Belgium (8 days/month on-site required)

Start Date: 05 January 2026

Duration: 3 months + possible extension

Contract Type: Freelance

Rate: Based on experience

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Solution Architect to lead the migration of a critical communication layer for messaging and file transfer within a complex financial services environment.

This role sits within a strategic transformation program and requires a strong blend of technical leadership, architectural governance, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Solution Design: Define high-level architecture aligned with enterprise roadmaps and regulatory standards
Stakeholder Management: Act as the bridge between business, delivery squads, and IT teams
Architecture Governance: Ensure compliance with architectural standards and escalate deviations when needed
Cloud Enablement: Design cloud-native solutions and drive cloud adoption (Azure preferred)
Lifecycle Ownership: Oversee solution delivery from ideation to implementation
Collaboration: Work closely with system and enterprise architects, product owners, and engineering leads

Required Skills & Experience

Proven experience in solution architecture, ideally in financial services or high-throughput environments
Strong technical background in cloud platforms (Azure preferred), CI/CD, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud security
Deep understanding of integration patterns, APIs, messaging standards (e.g., SWIFT), and middleware
Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business terms
Experience working in agile delivery models (tribes/squads)

Desirable Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
Certifications in cloud architecture (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect)
Familiarity with regulatory compliance and risk management in IT architecture
French language skills are a plus
