Their mission is to develop advanced models that go beyond molecule design to address entire biological and chemical systems, working closely with a high-performance experimental lab.

This role blends technical leadership with hands-on engineering. You will guide a team that:

Designs, trains, and evaluates new AI models.
Curates, generates, and manages large-scale datasets.
Works with a variety of third-party models and tools.
Develops internal infrastructure to accelerate the train-test-iterate cycle.

You'll actively contribute code, review significant portions of the team's work, mentor colleagues, and collaborate closely with other parts of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Design, train, and evaluate new models.
Adapt and fine-tune external models for internal use.
Establish best practices for working with third-party AI tools, including AI-assisted coding.
Maintain data pipelines and models in production.
Recruit and mentor new engineering team members.
Serve as a bridge between engineering and other teams.

Ideal Experience

Proven track record of building and deploying advanced AI models in the life sciences or related fields.
Strong background in collaborative coding practices, code reviews, and testing.
Experience mentoring engineers.
Adaptability and resourcefulness to thrive in a fast-moving research-driven startup.
