Senior QA Engineer
London/Work From Home (Hybrid)
Contract - Outside IR35
£380 per day
Due to the nature of our work, candidates must be eligible for high-level security clearance. To qualify, you must be a British citizen and have lived permanently in the UK for the past 5 years.
Digital Skills are seeking a Senior QA Engineer to support test planning, execution, and quality assurance across a range of projects. This role is focused on manual testing, issue investigation, and close collaboration with developers and Test Engineers to ensure high-quality delivery.
While the role does not require writing automation scripts, you should be comfortable running and interpreting automated test results. The position may require occasional early-morning test releases.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to test planning, preparation, and execution across multiple projects
Create, review, and maintain test plans, test scripts, and supporting documentation
Perform manual testing activities and validate automated test results
Investigate issues to identify root causes and work with Test Engineers and developers to support timely resolution
Collaborate with developers, analysts, and business teams to ensure defects are logged, tracked, and resolved effectively
Support continuous improvement of testing processes, standards, and quality practices
Provide clear and concise test progress updates and metrics to stakeholders
Participate in occasional out-of-hours testing as part of deployment or release activities (1-2 shifts per month, 1am-5am)
Key Skills Required
Proven experience as aSenior QA Engineer within large-scale, complex environments
Strong background in manual testing, including test planning, execution, and defect management
Experience using Jira for test and defect tracking, and Confluence for documentation
Exposure to automated testing frameworks; ability to run, interpret, and report on automated test outputs
Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, especially within Agile or hybrid delivery models
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams
