Job Title: Senior Data Engineer
Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid)
Job Type: Contract - Full-time
We’re seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our customer’s Supply Chain and Manufacturing team, supporting data-driven initiatives for leading healthcare and pharmaceutical clients.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain ETL pipelines to integrate and transform data from diverse sources into warehouses or data lakes.
Build and optimize real-time and batch data processing solutions with strong focus on data quality and reliability.
Orchestrate data from multiple platforms (databases, APIs, streaming services, and manufacturing systems).
Implement monitoring, validation, and alerting systems to maintain data accuracy and transparency.
Manage and optimize relational, NoSQL, and distributed storage systems.
Write production-grade, well-tested code and conduct peer code reviews.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers to deliver impactful data-driven outcomes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer with a focus on scalable, high-performance solutions.
Strong programming skills in Python (or equivalent), with experience in Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Proven experience with ETL and data integration tools (e.g., Talend, Informatica, Apache NiFi).
Expertise in data modeling, pipeline design, and distributed computing frameworks.
Familiarity with supply chain/manufacturing systems such as SAP, MES, LIMS, OMP, Kinaxis, or Anaplan.
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related technical field.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications such as AWS Certified Data Engineer or Azure Data Engineer Associate.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, code versioning, and data observability frameworks.
Strong understanding of data warehousing and lakehouse architectures.
