Automation & Controls Engineer - 6 months+ - London, UK

Were looking for an experience consultant to support the design, deployment, integration, and operation of industrial control systems within a mission-critical data center environment.

Focused on scalable and secure automation solutions using SCADA platforms and PLC-based control systems to ensure the highest levels of reliability, efficiency, and uptime across data center mechanical and electrical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Design, configure, and implement automation and control systems for data center MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) equipment, including power distribution units, cooling systems, generators, and switchgear.
Develop and maintain SCADA/HMI systems, including screen development, alarm management, tag databases, and system optimization.
Program, test, and troubleshoot PLC and PAC controllers (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider Electric) for new deployments and system upgrades.
Integrate field devices (sensors, VFDs, meters, BMS/HVAC controllers) into centralized SCADA and BMS platforms.

Your Experience

3–7+ years of experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, or SCADA development.
Strong hands-on experience with SCADA/HMI platforms (e.g., Ignition, Wonderware/AVEVA, PLC-based HMIs, ICONICS).
Demonstrated expertise in PLC programming, ladder logic, function block, and structured text.
Familiarity with critical infrastructure environments such as data centers, semiconductor fabs, or large industrial facilities.
Experience with instrumentation, control panel design, electrical troubleshooting, and commissioning.
