JOB DESCRIPTION – Software Quality Engineer Internship
Location: Toronto, ON or remote in Canada

Line Manager: Engineer Manager
Contract Terms: 8-month Term commencing February 2026 working 37.5 hours per week
THE TEAM
Universe is a leader in online ticketing for general admission events. We’re constantly innovating with a focus on attractions and exhibits and are growing our team! We serve some of the biggest names in entertainment across attractions & clubs with operations spanning 15 countries across North America and Europe.
Our global team of over 60 people, we operate as an independent entity within the larger Ticketmaster/Live Nation family. We set our own roadmap and operate a modern tech stack (i.e., Kubernetes, Docker, Flux and more!), all with the financial backing and resources of a Fortune 500 company.
THE INTERNSHIP
As a Software Quality Engineering Intern at Universe, you will apply your passion for technology and live entertainment to build and test a world-class, highly scalable ticketing platform. In this technical position, you’ll work closely with fellow QA specialists to build reliable and scalable test automation solutions and solve tough technical challenges. You’ll deliver great quality code and innovative solutions while growing your skills in test automation and quality.
Our clients and their fans rely on Universe to provide a stable and reliable platform that can scale quickly to handle unpredictable demand, large traffic and data volumes. As a Software Quality Engineering Intern, you will be relied upon not just to maintain and add to the existing automated test suite but to help improve the continuing quality of the product by assisting teams to gain a quality-focused mindset.
What You Will Be Doing
Help develop and implement automation strategies, plans, and frameworks to meet business objectives
Run existing automated tests, interpreting results and communicating outcomes
Pair-program with other talented developers
Learn about the latest automation technologies and trends
Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement in automation processes and tools

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (or TECHNICAL SKILLS)
A passion for automated testing of complex systems
Exposure to executing all levels of testing: System, Integration, Performance, and Regression
An independent, fast-learning, self-starter who takes ownership over solving problems
A passion for quality, including defining and executing test plans, and QA processes and automated test strategy, etc.
Effective communicator, written and oral, as this role will be working closely with people from all over the organization
Interest in testing tools and scripting languages such as, Playwright, Selenium, Cucumber, Typescript and/or JavaScript
Comfort with working in a macOS environment
Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD concepts or tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, or Argo CD
Exposure to data store concepts such as PostgreSQL, Mongo, Redis, Clickhouse, or Elasticsearch

The expected compensation for this position in British Columbia is:
$25.00 CAD per hour.
