Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

As a talented Software Test Automation Engineer, we want you to help us fulfil our mission by enabling our engineering teams to build, test and deploy reliable and secure software using state-of-the-art CI/CD techniques.

Key Responsibilities

Duties

In your capacity as a Software Test Automation Engineer, your role will be continuously evolving, but day to day, your duties will include:

Automate CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitLab CI) to enable fast and reliable software releases.
Develop automated workflows for code quality checks, testing, and deployment across multiple projects.
Configure and manage repositories, branching strategies, and code review workflows in Git-based systems.
Set up and maintain developer environments (e.g., Coder, Docker-based setups, or similar) to ensure consistency and ease of onboarding.
Design and implement automation workflows.
Collaborate with engineering teams to define best practices for repository structure, version control, and continuous integration.
Continuously improve test processes, tools, and methodologies.

What we would love to see from you

In the role of a Software Test Automation Engineer, ideally, you will have the following:

3+ years of experience in software testing, automation or a related role.
Strong programming skills in Python, C++, or similar languages.
Experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g., PyTest, Playwright).
Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins).
Familiarity with developer environments (e.g., Coder, Docker-based setups).
Familiarity with workflow engines (e.g., Argo Workflows).
Knowledge of tools such as Terraform and Kubernetes is a plus.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment.
