Location - Newcastle/Swindon/Glasgow (Hybrid, 1 day per week)

Type - Contract (Inside IR35)

Duration - 6 Months, extendable

Job Overview

The DLP Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Data Loss Prevention policies, primarily utilizing Microsoft solutions such as Defender and Purview. The role focuses on developing effective monitoring use cases, scripting and automation, alert investigation, and collaboration across IT and business teams to remediate potential security issues.

Key Responsibilities

Design, implement, and optimize DLP policies across Microsoft Purview and Defender platforms.
Develop, test, and refine monitoring use cases leveraging KQL and scripting to detect data exfiltration and misuse.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to respond to DLP incidents and support remediation efforts.
Continuously analyze and tune DLP detection policies for improved accuracy and minimal false positives.
Review and update configurations based on threat intelligence and evolving compliance needs.
Engage with data owners, IT, and business stakeholders for policy alignment and incident management.
Build and maintain runbooks and documentation for troubleshooting and process improvement.
Support regulatory compliance, perform regular health and issue monitoring, and escalate issues as needed.

Essential Skills

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite, especially Defender and Purview.
Strong Kusto Query Language (KQL) skills for SIEM and security analytics.
Hands-on scripting abilities (PowerShell, Python, etc.) for automation and tool enhancement.
Proven experience in developing and tuning DLP monitoring use cases.
Strong analytical and investigative skills for reviewing alerts and policy effectiveness.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills for working with remediation and security teams.
Experience in incident, problem, and change management processes.
