Job Specifications

Role: Java + AWS Developer

Location: Mississauga- Hybrid

Hire Type: Contract

Java + AWS Developer (Finance/Insurance Domain) – Mississauga

• Must-have experience with Typescript, AWS Lambda, and Step Functions for API development

• Work with the Digital Platform Team to support digital trading roadmap and cloud-based solutions

• Collaborate with Product Owner, Scrum Master, and cross-functional team members

• Apply engineering excellence principles and continuously improve coding standards

• Write clean, maintainable, and high-quality code aligned with team guidelines

• Own, scope, and deliver well-defined user stories with regular progress updates

• Build and maintain software products meeting enterprise quality and security guardrails

• Support, monitor, and maintain production systems using observability tools and incident remediation

• Work with both technical and non-technical teams to deliver value-focused solutions

• Contribute to a strong code quality culture with automated unit and integration testing

• Apply secure coding practices including threat modelling

• Expand knowledge in architecture, modern engineering patterns, and design principles

• Enhance CI/CD pipelines and participate in code reviews and pull-request evaluations

• Prepare technical specifications and development documentation as needed

• Maintain strong relationships with colleagues, vendors, and customers

Skills & Experience Requirements

• Proven experience building API products and API management (e.g., Apigee)

• Hands-on experience in API versioning, documentation, and developer onboarding

• Strong experience in AWS serverless architecture and event-driven integration patterns

• Demonstrated experience developing AWS cloud-native applications

• Proficiency with DevOps tools (Jenkins, Bamboo, Git, or similar) for CI/CD deployments

• Experience with SQL and NoSQL database paradigms

• Solid understanding of security protocols, standards, and secure development practices

• Strong backend development experience using Typescript to deliver business functionality

• Understanding of automated testing concepts and frameworks

• Deep appreciation of engineering excellence principles and applying them consistently

• Experience delivering features in agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, or XP

• Experience working directly with Product Owners, end users, customers, or stakeholders
