Role Summary

Rivian’s Digital Technology Team is responsible for the end-to-end implementation of the digital experience outside the vehicle (e.g. vehicle configuration, payment gateway, vehicle delivery management, service scheduling) across web, mobile app and in-store. To that end, we are developing a world-class commerce platform that will make learning about and purchasing electric adventure vehicles intuitive, seamless and fun. We are seeking a Software Engineer who will be developing large scale applications using the latest language features, frameworks and tooling. She/He will be building from the ground up with an obsession toward making these experiences memorable for the customers. This position will be located in Vancouver and report to our Sr. Manager, Software Engineering.

Responsibilities

Create client-side applications along the customer journey that range from managing financial transactions to scheduling vehicle deliveries
Collaborate with UX/UI designers and product designers to build user-friendly, immersive, reactive applications
Develop state of the art code with a keen eye on profiling, browser memory usage, load time of the apps
Consistently write useful tests for all code developed, ensuring a high-quality bar is maintained

Qualifications

3+ years of relevant industry experience, with 1+ years of experience building large scale enterprise grade systems (Preferred)
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technology field
Experience building distributed systems at scale which can handle millions of transactions/second
Experience with HTML5, CSS/SASS, Restful APIs, JSON, HTTP
Node, Javascript/Typescript, React or other JS framework experience
Experience with Java or Golang a plus
Experience working with AWS, GCP or similar cloud platforms, and CDNs a plus
Experience with Serverless or Container microservices architectures a plus
Experience with GraphQL a plus
Good understanding of caching, security and privacy principles
Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines
Excellent understanding of cross-browser cross-platform compatibility issues as well as the ability to debug
Comfortable navigating trade-offs to bring the right data structure and algorithms to the problem
Meticulous around visibility of the systems you build - metrics, centralized logging, tracing
Dedicated to unit, integration testing and coverage - comfortable using tools of the trade on profiling, source control
Experience with Agile Development, SCRUM or a similar software development life cycle process

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range: $86,200 - 107,800 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law)
