Who We Are

Verily is a subsidiary of Alphabet that is using a data-driven approach to change the way people manage their health and the way healthcare is delivered. Launched from Google X in 2015, our purpose is to bring the promise of precision health to everyone, every day. We are focused on generating and activating data from a variety of sources, including clinical, social, behavioral and the real world, to arrive at the best solutions for a person based on a comprehensive view of the evidence. Our unique expertise and capabilities in technology, data science and healthcare enable the entire healthcare ecosystem to drive better health outcomes.

Description

We're looking for an experienced and highly motivated Cloud Architect to join the IT Enterprise Architecture organization to design, build, and manage scalable, secure, and reliable infrastructure on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and a proven track record of integrating cloud environments with third-party SaaS solutions. This role requires a blend of hands-on technical skills and strategic architectural vision.

Responsibilities

Architectural Design: Design and document robust, secure, and cost-optimized cloud architecture on GCP, utilizing services like Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Functions, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, and Cloud Storage.
Infrastructure Automation (IaC): Develop, maintain, and manage our cloud infrastructure using Terraform. This includes defining networking, security groups, compute resources, and data services in a declarative manner.
SaaS Integration: Lead the technical implementation and integration of various Software as a Service (SaaS) applications (e.g., Salesforce, ServiceNow, monitoring platforms) with our core GCP services, ensuring secure data exchange and seamless workflow automation.
Security & Compliance: Implement and enforce GCP security best practices, including IAM policies, network security (VPC, Firewall Rules, VPNs), encryption, and compliance with industry standards.
Optimization: Monitor, analyze, and optimize the performance, scalability, and cost efficiency of assigned platforms.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Cloud Infrastructure Expertise: 8+ years of experience with deep knowledge of the core cloud services, including Networking (VPC, interconnect), Compute (containers, virtual machines), Data Services, and Security/IAM.
Terraform Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in Terraform for provisioning and managing IaaS resources, including writing custom modules and managing state in a collaborative environment.
SaaS Integration Focus: Strong experience in designing and implementing secure integrations between public cloud technologies and third-party SaaS platforms (using APIs, OAuth, service accounts, etc.).
Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

GCP Professional Cloud Architect certification is highly preferred.
Knowledge of application monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Cloud Logging/Monitoring).
Familiarity with containerization technologies beyond GKE, such as Docker and Cloud Run.
Operational experience with AI technologies such VertexAI and Agentic concepts is a plus.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
