Data Visualisation Developer
Whitehall Resources currently require an experienced Data Visualisation Developer to work with a key client
*please note this role falls inside IR35 and requires 2 days onsite in Cambridge a week*
Responsibilities:
. Build, enhance, and optimise Power BI and Tableau dashboards, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with EIT visualisation guidelines.
. Design sophisticated visualisation logic, including Power BI parameters, DAX measures, and Tableau Level of Detail (LOD) calculations to deliver dynamic and interactive reports.
. Translate business metrics and indicators into intuitive, impactful visual stories that drive understanding and decision-making.
. Lead dashboard design reviews, ensuring the use of accessible, inclusive colour palettes and alignment to UX guidelines.
. Partner with analysts and data engineers to validate data models, optimise data sources, and ensure high performance and reliability across dashboards.
. Drive adoption of the EIT Data and Insights Hub as the central reporting platform, supporting the migration of Legacy dashboards.
. Promote data literacy and self-service analytics through documentation, training, and the sharing of visualisation standards and reusable assets.
Required Skills and Experience:
. Minimum 6 years' experience developing advanced dashboards in Power BI and Tableau.
. Expert-level proficiency in Power BI: DAX, measures, parameters, bookmarks, performance tuning, and model optimisation.
. Expert-level proficiency in Tableau: Level of Detail (LOD) expressions, parameters, calculated fields, and data blending.
. Demonstrable ability to design clean, user-centric dashboards that balance aesthetics, accessibility, and performance.
. Solid understanding of data modelling concepts, including schemas and relationships used for reporting.
. Superb communication and storytelling skills, able to translate complex data into actionable insights for diverse audiences.
. Experience collaborating with data engineers and analysts to ensure data quality and consistency across reporting layers.
. Strong leadership and mentoring experience with the ability to guide and upskill junior developers.
Nice To Have Skills and Experience:
. Familiarity with Databricks or other cloud data platforms as data sources.
. Experience defining or contributing to visualisation design standards and frameworks.
. Knowledge of UI/UX principles, accessibility, and inclusive design for data products.
. Background in mentoring or peer-reviewing other developers on dashboard design and optimisation guidelines.
