Job Summary
The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government is seeking an Information Governance Officer within its Knowledge and Information Management (KIM) team, part of the Digital Information and Data Directorate.
The KIM team is responsible for managing the department’s knowledge and information, including ensuring compliance with the Public Records Act and other information rights legislation.
Role
You will be part of a varied team, liaising closely with the wider KIM team and with stakeholders across the department. The main function of your role will be to support information governance within the KIM team’s remit, primarily:
Information sharing - providing practical advice on information sharing governance, triaging of queries and maintaining records of sharing initiatives
Information asset management – delivery of the department’s information asset management processes, providing advice on the protection of information assets, promoting asset registration across the department and regular engagement with key personnel associated with registered assets
To deliver the above, you will work closely with key stakeholders such as data protection, cyber, IT, digital design and security teams.
You will be involved in the planning and delivery of training and communications, including regular engagement with networks within the department, such as Information Subject Matter Experts.
You will be dynamic and have an excellent grounding in the KIM discipline, along with excellent digital literacy. You will be enthusiastic about the benefits of KIM and able to actively promote good practice. You will enjoy working independently and with a range of people.
You will advise on information sharing, asset management and security advice requests, and ensure the delivery of key processes. You will also be responsible for handling information breaches where required and producing regular statistical reports to senior management.
You will have a good working knowledge of Microsoft 365, particularly Teams and SharePoint, and will keep up to date with changes to these systems and how these will impact on KIM within the department. You will also contribute to projects, both within the KIM team and providing KIM input to wider departmental projects. You will have an analytical approach, taking into account the full context of a situation before making a decision.

Provide advice on information sharing, information asset management and information security, adopting a risk-based approach to address complex business requirements
Collaborate with the Information Sharing Manager and Information Assurance Manager to develop our service offer
Oversee use of secure sharing mechanisms, encouraging colleagues to share effectively and securely
Carry out information asset reviews and manage the annual review cycle
Risk assess information breaches and offer advice, or escalate, where required
Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the department, including data protection, cyber, IT, digital design and security teams
Maintain records of information sharing and information asset management activities
Plan and deliver training sessions and communications
Work with the wider KIM team to continually improve the services offered to the department
Contribute to wider KIM priorities and projects as required
